i NORMALLY like to watch a company for about 2 years after the float

but i still NEED to have my cash working sensibly , so am still watching and THINKING

am tempted to add some extra ABA but maybe a little later in the month after the big banks report ( BEN also )

Poor old ABA had finally had a run of new highs before the big C struck, now gone the other way. A few more at this time would probably be good, but not yet for me.

plenty of difficulties coming for the banks

but the share price isn't the whole story with the smaller banks , they are used to struggling so MIGHT have better strategies near term ( not just fly overseas asking for more capital )

the next couple of months will test investor sentiment

i hope they don't suspend the DRP this time when share prices are low

My beef with ABA is the level of their ongoing fees. They have a fee for almost everything even on their "pension friendly" savings accounts. Not cricket I say. SUN is much more fee friendly.

have never had an account with ABA , but had a similar issue with BOQ so only hold the shares and cancelled the account

Heritage is now my main bank but they would be hard for you ( you live further north than me if my memory is correct , so probably not many branches close )

i used to hold HBS debt notes but they matured some years back

i do my best to keep the bank balances low ( below $5,000 ) since interest rates are so low

Oddly enough we have a full service Heritage branch but our Suncorp branch is some sort of self service, help yourself, (no tellers) affair. Don't know how that works. Never been in it. I have two accounts with them but do it all online.

Very helpful bank I've found. NO fees at all on their pensioner account, and when I unwittingly overdrew last year some time they waived the fee on that too. Sent me a friendly letter and helped me establish a sweep facility to prevent it happening again. It is an account that I only use for direct debits and keep very little money in, other than a trickle from share trading profits.

i stuck with Heritage because they stuck with me even when i only had $5 in the bank in the 1990's

but nice to see they are expanding north

am not sure where i would go if i had to change
