Perilya hit by blackouts as red dust storm creates havoc in Broken Hill

Perilya (ASX: PEM) confirmed today that the company operations suffered a complete power blackout at almost 6 pm last night and this break saw two underground operators caught in a cage between the 20 and 21 levels of the North Broken Hill mine.

They were travelling in a cage operated by the NBHC service winder at the time of the outage. The winder's emergency braking system came into effect immediately upon the power outage.
