No wonder home values are slowing down during these challenging times of corona. I was also pretty shocked to see that rent prices in Sydney dropped by 8% overall. Can you imagine? I mean, that's good for me since I have to pay less, lol. Also, home prices fell by 9.2% in Australia. That's just crazy! My partner lives in Japan, and I was planning on moving there, and to our surprise, for asapporo apartment rent, we were supposed to pay 20% less than usual. So, not only in Australia did the prices slow down, but also in Japan! I guess that's the only perk of covid!

A bargain, maybe? A glamorous New York penthouse just sold for a 75 per cent discount to its asking price.

The four-level apartment with panoramic views in a historic building formerly home to the city’s police department changed hands for $US10 million ($13.31 million), The Real Deal reports.

It’s a far cry from the original $US40 million asking price when the lavish spread first hit the market in 2015. It was later discounted to $US35 million, then to less than $US28 million, then under $20 million in 2019.

The iconic Little Italy building was designed at the turn of the century and housed the New York Police Department until it was converted into a residential block in 1988.

With 511 square metres of interior space, the four-bedroom residence boasts a chef’s kitchen, formal dining room, media room and bar area, guest bedrooms with en suites and a second kitchen.

Up a spiral staircase – or private elevator – the main bedroom suite comes with a walk-in closet and adjacent office space.

The third level is a striking living room in the dome of the building with adjoining terraces, and the fourth is the clock tower room.

The building comes with coveted amenities such as a concierge, doorman, resident manager, gym and communal garden.

Aaron Chaus, the heir to women’s clothing label Chaus, bought the apartment from Ahmass Fakahany, the former global president and chief operating officer of Merrill Lynch and his wife, Alsun Keogh, according to The Real Deal.
