Copper prices rose in early trading on the London Metal Exchange on Tuesday, supported by better-than-expected equities markets. Three-month copper opened at $4,913 per tonne, up from Mondays official price of $4,882/82.5 per tonne. Copper stocks decreased by 325 tonnes, taking total copper inventories to 256,900 tonnes. People were expecting a sell off [on Monday] but it didnt happen as the equities held up, as did precious metals and energy, a category I trader told MB. There is some nearby tightness on.
